-
Do you offer anything for older kids?Though our current offerings focus on projects for elementary kids, we’re happy to design experiences for middle and high school students. Drop us a line to let us know what you might be interested in and we can work together to create something cool.
-
Can siblings or friends participate?Absolutely! Younger children (pre-k and below) can participate at a special “helper” rate. Discounted tuition for additional siblings (or peers) wishing to work on the same projects can be purchased at the time of the reservation.
-
What space do you require? What about supplies? All we require is a table with chairs and access to a sink to work our magic. Kitchen or dining room tables are just fine! We’ll bring a table covering and aprons and take care of all of the set up/clean up. We provide all of the art supplies.
-
How long are the sessions?Sessions typically last 90 minutes. This includes time for set up, an introduction to the artmaking, demonstration, creation time, and clean up. This may vary by project.
-
What is the price for create dates? Our special introductory rate for Create Dates is $50 for the first child. What are you covid protocols? Our instructor is fully vaccinated and boosted and happy to wear a mask when requested. Student masking is optional. Shared supplies are cleaned and thoroughly sanitized in between sessions.
-
What projects do you offer? What is a typical lesson like?We rotate our project offerings on a weekly basis to keep everyone’s creative juices flowing (especially for those who book multiple sessions!) Our engaging lessons always start with a friendly chat (often accompanied by a children’s book reading) followed by an awesome project. We work in all media including painting, drawing, fiber art, sculpture, and more.
-
Can I request a specific project, theme, or technique? We prep our projects and supplies a week or two in advance of instruction, so individual project requests present a challenge. We can do our best to accommodate requests made at least a week in advance for a small additional fee. Please contact us and let us know what you have in mind.
-
What is a virtual studio?A virtual studio is a collection of digital lessons that is available for streaming. We’ve done our best to translate the enthusiasm and ideas of our former physical studio and make them accessible anywhere!
-
What about supplies? We are all about using what you have on hand whenever possible. Each lesson’s supply list is accessible prior to purchase. The vast majority of our classes can be completed using our Essential Supplies List - 20 tried-and-true art supplies which will serve you well for all kinds of creative projects. Any additional supplies will be noted.
-
What do the lessons include? The lessons are called “courses” on our platform. Each course includes three parts: Get Ready! - a short discussion of the project designed to activate your kiddo’s prior knowledge. This might include background on an artist or technique, images of artwork to consider, helpful web links (to museums and other kid-friendly sources), a sketchbook prompt, or even a reading of children’s book connected to the lesson. Get Set! - this area of the course outlines the supplies required and any special prep parents might need to assist with. Let’s Make! - the fun part! This section includes an engaging video lesson taking you through the lesson step-by-step. The instruction is narrated in kid-friendly language and edited to hold their attention spans. Students can fast forward, pause, rewind, and repeat as many times as needed

Why is this better than what I can find on youtube for free?Youtube is a wonderful resource for a number of reasons - including free content!
